Maurice Coyaud (born 7 June 1934 in Hanoi (Tonkin, French Indochina) and died on 28 December 2015 in Quincy-sous-Sénart) was a French linguist, who was a specialist in the languages and cultures of East Asia.
Coyaud was director of research at CNRS from 1973, and a member of the laboratory LACITO from 1976 until his retirement in 1999. He published numerous essays, novels, anthologies, translations.
He was a specialist in Russian, Mandarin, Mongolian, Burmese, Tagalog, Korean and Japanese.
Coyaud taught for years at the École Polytechnique.
