The prosecutor was convicted over an incident that occurred in Pacific Beach in 2011. Worden was a passenger in a car driven by fellow prosecutor Amy Maund. Worden was cited for not wearing her seat belt, and Maund for allowing a passenger to ride without being buckled.
Worden was charged with trying to fix the ticket by first telling the officer she and Maund were prosecutors. (Maund objected to Worden’s efforts and was not charged).
When that didn’t work, she phoned a longtime friend, police Sgt. Kevin Friedman, and asked him to “do something.” The tickets were then removed from a Police Department filing bin.
After her conviction, the bar suspended her license, but stayed that action pending appeals. She resigned from the District Attorney’s Office in February 2013.
She is now a lawyer with the Gomez Trial Attorneys, a high-profile civil law firm.
