The Impending Ethno-Sexual Economics Crash

Yeah, I thought that would spark your interest.

Anything having to do with SEX will do that to most folks. I needed to do something to get your attention now that I’ve actually re-started.

A bubble is about to burst and soon we will have a serious shortage of Asian women. Specifically, SINGLE Asian women here in America.

There used to be a time when Asian-American women almost exclusively went out with and ultimately married Asian-American guys. Not so much anymore. I stumbled on a random survey on the Internet that said 48% of Asian women would consider dating outside their race. Forty-fracking-eight per cent. I’m Asian, I did the math, that’s nearly half! Look around, you see more and more Asian women with white guys, black guys, whatever guys. Do you see a corresponding number of Asian guys with non-Asian women? I think not.

Further, according to 2010 Census statistics, Asian women married non-Asian men at over twice the rate (17%) as Asian men married non-Asian women (8%). Remember these numbers, there will be a quiz later.

Look at TV. Yang on “Gray’s Anatomy” gets knocked up by a black guy, a couple of seasons later gets it on with a white guy. And, while we’re at it, remember Ming Na on “e.r.?” Didn’t she get knocked up by a black guy as well? Two female Asian doctors and they both get knocked up by black guys? I see a stereotype in the making here.

Grace Park, Maggie Q, Lucy Liu, and the previously noted Sandra Oh. They’re all beautiful, smart, and capable, and their characters are not married to Asian guys. Hell, they’re not even dating them. TV is teaching Asian women that they don’t have to marry Asian guys!

It doesn’t matter if you’re Japanese, Chinese, Korean, or Indian. From Day One, it’s been pounded into our heads, “You will go to college, get a good job, and marry a nice (fill-in your ethnicity) girl.” And we, as obedient sons, did our best.

But there’s a problem, a bunch of those nice (fill-in) girls are getting scooped up by non-Asian guys that believed the media hype that Asian women are submissive, exotic, and more feminine than “American” women. Oh wow, are those guys in for a surprise, but I digress…

Let’s look at the economics of this.

Nature, in her infinite wisdom, created roughly the same number of men and women. So if Asian women are getting taken out-of-play by non-Asian guys, then who are the Asian guys going to go out with and marry? If 17 per cent of the women are gone from the pool and eight per cent of us left the pool as well, that means 92% of the guys are competing for 83% of the women. That means nine-freaking-per-cent of you are eff’d, but only figuratively.

After failing with women with last names like Matsuda, Ito, Kobuki, and Wong, I was running out of options. What was I going to do?
I joined the Eight Per Cent Club and married a white chick.

So, unless you’re willing to undergo a sex-change operation, you’re stuck being a male and until they perfect ethnic re-assignment surgery, you’re stuck being Asian. And if you want to stop being single, you have a choice. You can take your chances with unfavorable odds or you can do what I did. Ignore what your mom is going to say and scratch “ethnicity” off your deal-breaker list.

By the way, if your mom continues to give you grief, ask her if she wants grandchildren.

There is some good news. As it turns out, there’s a group of women who are in a similar boat as Asian guys. Stay tuned. We’ll get to that later.
