A global açaí brand founded in Brazil in 2016 by Georgios Frangulis and Renato Haidar.
Oakberry specializes in serving açaí bowls and smoothies made with sustainably sourced açaí from the Amazon Rainforest.
The company recently raised $67 million in Series C funding from Brazilian investment bank BTG Pactual, bringing its total funding to over $77 million.
Such funding will accelerate Oakberry’s expansion in the U.S., with plans to grow from 35 current locations to over 200 by 2026. It also aims to triple its European footprint in the same timeframe.
Oakberry has over 700 locations across 40 countries and expects to reach 1,000 stores globally by the end of 2024 with projected revenue of $200 million.
The brand’s focus on sustainability and clear ESG metrics through its vertically integrated supply chain from the Amazon attracted investment from BTG Pactual’s impact fund.
Oakberry’s efficient operating model with simple menus and 1-3 employees per store allows for rapid scaling. It opened its first international location in Orlando, Florida in 2018 and has since expanded to the Middle East, China, Spain, Peru and Portugal through master franchisees.
In Los Angeles, there is an Oakberry at Beverly Center. Oakberry Larchmont opened in May 2024.
The company standardizes its branding globally while adapting menus to local tastes and has been an official partner at major sporting events like the Super Bowl and F1 races.
