After not showing up for work, Jonathan Whitener was found dead inside his Hollywood apartment. It is publicly unknown how long he had been dead.

Cause of death, according to the county’s medical examiner, was cocaine abuse and alcoholism.

The decedent’s brother JonPaul had past arrests for drug possession.

Jonathan Whitener himself had been served with a suit in 2019 for domestic violence. A temporary restraining order was granted to the petitioner.

On account of his death, Jonathan Whitener’s restaurant HLAY in Central L.A. closed.
