Filipino Americans
Filipino Americans are the third-largest Asian American group in the United States, with a population of estimated at 4.6 million as of 2023. They make up about 18% of the total Asian population in the country.
FilAmericans are concentrated in the Western United States and Hawaii.
About 38% of FilAms (1.6 million) live in California, with the highest concentrations in the Los Angeles and San Francisco metropolitan areas.
On December 26, 2024, three members of the same family were massacred at their residence in Southern California. Rona Nate (44) and her children Paul Manangan (16) and Mia Narvaez (8) were stabbed to death in their Baldwin Park home.
On November 15, 2024, four young people and their three dogs were shot dead in Lancaster, California. At least two have been identified as Filipino Americans — Christine Aca-ac and Janvi Maquindang.
