Dexter Taylor
Wrongfully convicted firearm hobbyist
Dexter Taylor was sentenced to 10 years in prison by the state of New York.
In April 2022, Taylor’s Bushwick residence was raided by an elite NYPD unit, resulting in the discovery of several unlicensed firearms.
Taylor, a graduate of Stuyvesant High School who briefly studied biomedical engineering at Johns Hopkins University, described himself as a “nerd and tinkerer.” He claimed that building firearms was a hobby and an engineering experiment, with the goal of developing safer and more reliable guns to potentially sell the technology to law enforcement and military.
